Centre Plate Gardens

Center Plate Gardens (CP Gardens) provides community residents, with a focus on low-income and women created, with gardens that can provide a family with foundational produce needs year-round.

Through design, build out, planting, growing, and cultivating one’s basic food needs, CP Gardens allows families the opportunity to learn how to build out their gardens in their own homes and how to sustain them through the seasons.

Families, with a focus on the matriarch, will not only learn how food is grown and harvested, but how to cook and preserve fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs to have during the off seasons to access the healthy benefits from their harvests.

Food Always in the Home – FAITH Program

Growing food for families is the conversation we must have!  How do I feed my family fresh fruit and produce for sustainability, health and well-being?  It starts with the kids, talking with children about food is such an amazing conversation because they can be brutally honest about food.  My journey of becoming a farmer in Stockton during a time where I experienced so much poverty in the neighborhood I bought my first home, I knew it was the kids, teach them how to grow food in my back yard.

A typical family of 4 if offered a growing bag with free organic compost,  4 X 4 raised bed growing box or a container; seeds for a crop plan to grow seasonal fruits & vegetables for an entire year that will change health outcomes for a lifetime! Simple as 1 2 3!

Education – Why crop rotation and crop plan – Monthly teaching tools on what that looks like? Digital learning on how to start seeds, how to save seeds properly, when to plant for the region we live in and how to compost to build nutrients to change backyard soil into Black Gold.
